Obituary

1927 – 2023 AUGUSTA - Marjorie J. Rollins, 96, passed away on December 2, 2023, at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with her family by her side. Born November 29, 1927, in New York to the late, Errold and Mabel (Morse) Grasse. She was a graduate of Gardiner Area High School in 1946 and married her one love, David W. Rollins on October 5, 1946. Marjorie and her husband spent many summers at their camp on Pleasant Pond in Richmond. She worked for many years at Hallowell Shoe and was a loving caretaker for her husband until he passed. She especially enjoyed being a Mom, Nana and Oot Nana to her daughter, granddaughter, and three great grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. She also enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA for 23 years, crossword and sudoku puzzles, card games, and watching her game shows on TV. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of her community. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents; her husband; sister, Elizabeth Spencer, and brother Elihu Norman Grasse. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Naiman, of Augusta; granddaughter, Melissa (MacMaster) Beale, her husband Joshua; great granddaughter, Marena and great grandsons, Jared and Jevan, all of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews and special friends David and Teresa MacMaster of Litchfield, Frank Naiman of Augusta and Kelly and Andy Perry of Augusta. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Special thanks for the excellent care that she received from the loving staff of the Alzheimer's Care Center in Gardiner and her caring nurses at MaineGeneral Medical Center on 1 West. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Marjorie Rollins can be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pethaven Lane, Augusta, Maine 04345 Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
