Obituary

PITTSTON - The family of Mark E. Susi must sadly announce his peaceful, though unexpected, passing in his home on November 3. Born in Lewiston, Maine on August 17, 1952, the eldest son of Paul "Bud" and Betty Susi, Mark grew up in Pittsfield attending Warsaw high school where he played three sports earning himself the nickname "The Dancing Bear" and the unofficial title of "cleanest uniform." Mark attended college at The University of Maine, Orono where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Kathi Willmott Susi. After attending The Maine School of Law, they settled in Farmingdale and then Pittston where they started their family. Those acquainted with Mark were sure to recognize his quick wit and intellect and knew him as a respected attorney in the field of family law, always driven to make a difference in the lives of those he served. He served on many area boards and committees through the years, most notably the Boys and Girls Club of Kennebec County. He was openly passionate about Golf (which he mostly seemed to hate) and fishing (snacks, anyone?). Those who knew him better remember him as the life of the party, an adventurous soul and lover of travel, an avid reader, teller of true tales and inappropriate jokes, an outdoorsman, an amateur chef, an occasional handyman, a devoted father, an endlessly dedicated Grandfather to Brie and a great supporter of all he loved and all who loved him. Mark was incredibly social and had many long-time friends in the community with whom he hunted, golfed, fished and went on "Christmas shopping" trips. He was a member at Springbrook and Augusta Country Clubs and a member of the Exclusive Losers Club (iykyk). Mark resided in Pittston, Maine, and is survived by his wife Kathi, daughter Dana and son Matt and their partners, grandchildren Brie, Sydney, Saydie and Evan, as well as Mark's brother Michael and sister Wendy. A visitation for Mark will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Staples Funeral Home located at 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, Maine. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, www.staplesfuneralhome.com Remembering Mark is to remember a life lived with purpose, a life filled with laughter, and a life that touched so many others. His spirit lives on in the stories we share, the memories we cherish, and the love that remains.
