AUGUSTA-It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Matilda Gay, into the arms of our Lord on March 28, 2024. Tilly, as she was fondly known, was born January 13, 1934 in Limestone, Maine the daughter of William & Sadie (Rossignol) Pelletier. Tilly resided in the Gardiner/Agusta area most of her life and attended the Gardiner area schools. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gardiner. She worked at Bath Iron Works and in her retirement years she worked part-time for Big Lots in Augusta. Tilly was pre-deceased by her parents William and Sadie Pelletier and her siblings Norman, Harvey, Louis, Eva, Robert, Rita, and Edmund. She is survived by her son, John Sheets and several grandchildren; siblings Clarence, Peter and his wife Delores, Erving and his wife Dianne, Billy, Stella, Anita and her husband Bruce; several nieces and nephews; and close friend Rena Clark.
