Obituary

1939 – 2021 CHELSEA - On September 21, 2021, Maxine Pushard, 82, of Chelsea, Maine passed on peacefully to be with the Lord. Maxine was born on April 4, 1939, in Jefferson to mother, Olive Mosher Whittier and father, Raymond Whittier. She was the second of three beautiful daughters raised by Ollie and Ray. Maxine met and married the love of her life Urban (Ben) Pushard and enjoyed a love affair that lasted 55 years until the unexpected passing of Ben in 2010. Maxine was broken hearted and never recovered from the loss of her Benny. Maxine was, as Ben knew, a tender-hearted soul who was happiest when caring for and nurturing her family. Known for her skills in the kitchen, like making the most amazing biscuits, and creating something delicious out of nothing. Max also loved gardening and was always busy being crafty and creative. Shy and sweet with a tender spot for elders and animals, she was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in need. Maxine leaves behind a family who will miss her very much. Daughters, Cheryl Pushard and fiancé Bill Studebaker of Rockland, Tracee Pushard and husband Jon Jordan, of Richmond; two granddaughters, Shelby Spera, of Camden and Taylor Clapp, of Chelsea; sister Sharon Dyer, of Jefferson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great grands. The entire family grieves the loss of our sweet matriarch and the closeness we have all enjoyed for years. We cherish the peace, love and relief for Maxine's sweet heart and soul, may God bless and smile upon her. There will be a private family graveside service for Max at Resthaven Cemetery in Windsor on Friday, October 1, at 11:00 Donations may be made to any animal support/rescue organization in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website: www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com
