Obituary

CHINA - With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of Melanie Star Feyler, known affectionately as "Mo," on December 29, 2024. Born on August 18, 1976, in Waterville, Maine, Melanie was a beacon of resilience and strength, a testament to the power of perseverance. A professional tutor by trade, her love for learning was only surpassed by her love for her family. Melanie resided in China, Maine, where she infused her home with the same warmth and creativity that she brought to every endeavor. Melanie was a woman of many passions, and her life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences. A lover of the ocean, she found joy in swimming and body surfing. Her appreciation for the arts was evident in her fondness for Broadway theater performances, concerts, and movies. Prince held a special place in her heart, as she was fortunate enough to see him perform on her 28th birthday. She was an avid reader, a reluctant but skilled cook, and a cherished companion for car rides, football games, and NASCAR races. Despite her repeated denials, Melanie loved cooking, adding a dash of her creativity to every dish she prepared. Her thoughtful spirit shone through in her hobbies, which also included lawn sales, shopping, and camping. Melanie lived life to the fullest, navigating life's challenges with grace and tenacity. Melanie's resilience was awe-inspiring. She battled health challenges with unwavering determination and courage, undergoing three kidney transplants and enduring dialysis. Her spirit remained unbroken, and in her own words, she simply didn't "know how to not fight." Melanie's strength was a testament to her character, and her legacy of love and resilience will endure. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and suffering. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the medical staff who cared for Melanie, with special thanks to the Nephrology Associates in Portland who provided her care over the last 35 years. Melanie leaves behind her loving mother, Marilyn Levesque and husband Thomas aka Daddy Tom, step-sister Sheilla Levesque, step-brother Tom Levesque, and brother Jessie Braley and the Braley family, and her fur babies. She is also survived by her beloved grandparents, Judith Brennan and Maurice Bean; the Feyler family, extended families and special friends. Melanie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Feyler, and her father, Timothy Braley. To honor Melanies' wishes there will be no service. We invite you to share your memories of Melanie, and upload photos to her memorial page www.staplesfuneralhome.com . As we remember and celebrate Melanie's life, let us all strive to embody her resilience, her love for life, and her passion for family and learning.
