PITTSTON - Merrill R. Boynton, 78, of Pittston, Maine, passed away on July 4, 2025. Merrill was born in Gardiner, Maine, on January 7, 1947, to parents Cameron and Theresa Boynton. His roots in Maine ran deep and never wavered, even as he journeyed through life. The passing of Merrill leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Merrill spent the majority of his career as a trusted and dedicated automobile mechanic. His love for automobiles was not confined to his profession alone; he spent countless hours under the hoods of cars, finding satisfaction in the hum of a well-tuned engine. His meticulous attention to detail in his work was matched only by the care and love he showed to those around him. Merrill was known for his quiet strength, his unwavering reliability, and his gentle heart. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words carried weight and wisdom.
Merrill was predeceased by his parents, Cameron and Theresa Boynton; brother Timothy Boynton, and a grandson Casey Chapman.
He is survived by his significant other, Violet Goodwin; two daughters, Adelaide Chapman and husband Cory, Theresa McPhearson and husband Al; brother Stanley Boynton; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 at 841 Whitefield Rd in Pittston. Please bring a chair.
