Obituary

West Gradiner: Michael A. Pinnette, devoted son, father, and uncle went to be with our Lord on the evening of November 5, 2025, peacefully in his sleep at Mount Joseph Nursing Home. He was born on February 8, 1953, in Gardiner, Maine to Joyce and Herbert Pinnette. This day was the start of a life, whose impact reaches farther than we will ever know. Albert Pike once said, "What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others, and the world remains and is immortal." He learned about life in the Waterville schools. He was the middle child, who loved being with his family. He enjoyed playing games, as long as he was winning and was a bit mischievous. His loving siblings, Vicki King and Stanley Pinnette often reminisce about the good ole days and all the fun memories of being a relative of Michael gave. Family trips, fun times with friends, and of course, the occasional prank and some sarcasm. While in high school, he was a star athlete earning his Varsity Letter in both football and track. After graduation, he headed to Boston to study heating and air conditioning at Northeastern University. Here, as well as high school, Mike was the life of the party! Upon graduation he went to work for Reliable Oil in Lewiston and then on to his life-long career with Dead River and the State of Maine. The staff of Dead River were more like family and Michael enjoyed his time there so very much! After college, Michael met Maryann Chalmers, and they created a beautiful family in 1979. He became a stepfather to three wonderful children, Melanie, Chad, and Wesley. Then, they welcomed his beautiful daughter, Amanda. She was his pride and joy. After the pair divorced, Amanda became the love of his life. A few years later, Michael met Kim Vigue, the next love of his life. They married in 1990 and together they welcomed his precious son Jonathan. Michael was so proud of his children. When you talked to him, his face would light up. Whether it be their many accomplishments or even just a quick visit, he loved every moment with them! His life was complete with his two children and the many pets he loved over the years. His impact on others and this world he called home was felt as a member of the Hospice Family in 1994. He blessed many people and their families with compassionate end-of-life care that focuses on providing comfort, peace, and dignity to people with a life-limiting illness. Each year, he also provided support by volunteering at Camp Ray of Hope. Hospice was a true blessing at the end of his life as well! As Michael became ill with Lupus in 2003, his life began to slow down a bit, but his impact on others never stopped. When he couldn't work anymore, he began to Volunteer at the Cohen Center in Gardiner, Maine. He assisted with the Meals on Wheels program and various other tasks. Everywhere Michael went, he left some inspiration. Whether it be an inspiring hat, shirt, a plastic duck, a little ceramic smile, or just some snacks…Michael wanted people to be happy and know they mattered! Michael was predeceased by his parents Joyce and Herbert Pinnette; his ex-wife Kim Vigue; and several aunts and uncles. Mikel is survived by his daughter Amanda Clark and her husband Josh; son Jonathan Pinnette; granddaughters Paige and Drew Clark; Brother and sister Vicki King of Waterville, Stanley Pinnette and his wife Genevieve of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by several friends, co-workers, cousins, and caregivers as well. The family would like to thank the special staff and caregivers at Mount Joseph Nursing Home. They brightened his days and made this transition from home much more loving than we ever could have asked for! Thank you for the moments you loved him, held his hand, comforted him, and the happiness you were able to give him each day. It means more to us than words could ever express. At Michael's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 10:00am on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, 110 School Street Gardiner, Maine. The family is asking all who attend to wear bright colors and hats to honor Mikel! In lieu of flowers, the family sincerely asks that donations be made to: Save our Strays, 41 Wyman Road, Waterville, ME 04901 or the Humane Society, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901. As Michael begins his time watching over us all, we ask you to remember all the special times. Remember his smile, wonderful sense of humor, loving ways, and honesty. Keep him alive in your hearts and share his memory through random acts of kindness. He will forever be…JUST DUCKY!
