1928 – 2022
PITTSTON - Mildred Iola Lewis Foster, 93, of Pittston passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
She was born in Randolph on September 7, 1928, the daughter of Raymond A. and Doris J. Lewis.
Mildred attended the Teresa C. Hamlin School in Randolph and graduated from Gardiner High School. Mildred married her high school sweetheart, Glendon Moody Foster, shortly after graduation and they spent 61 wonderful years together before Glendon died in 2008. Since Glendon worked as a boilermaker for the Graver Tank and Manufacturing Company, Mildred was able to travel to many different locations in the United States with him. They made their permanent home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where Mildred enjoyed being a homemaker. In 1980, Mildred moved back to her beloved Maine with Glendon and was able to be closer to her family and friends.
In later years, Mildred loved to travel. Her most memorable trip was on a cruise that she and Glendon took to Hawaii. She was also a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star, Marion Chapter 63 and accompanied Glendon to parades all over the state of Maine when he was a Kora Karts member. Most of her free time was spent with family and friends, completing word searches, or talking on the telephone (which was her favorite pastime).
Mildred was predeceased by her mother and father of Randolph, her husband Glendon Foster, her brother Richard Lewis, her brother Ronald Lewis, her sister Virginia Preshong, and her brother Randall Lewis.
