Pittston-Paul Glaeseman died on Oct. 21, 2024, at his home.
He was a professor of sociology at Delaware State University, 1973 through 2003. Paul enjoyed teaching and wanted to believe he made a contribution. From 1965 to 1969, he was the executive director of the Delaware Region, National Conference on Community and Justice. Committed to social equality, he had little interest in high profile politics.
During 1959, Paul was a group worker at the People Settlement House on Wilmington's East Side, seeing American poverty first-hand; and in 1960, a recreational therapist at Delaware State Hospital, where the distinction between patients and staff were frequently blurred.
Paul's interests included classical music, films, world affairs and photography, especially Leitz and Leica equipment. He relished spending summers in Maine, rebuilding the farm in Pittston and retiring there in 2003 to mow the grass on his old Farmall tractor.
Judith Caroline, of Wilmington, was the love of Paul's life. He had enormous pride in their son, Rory, married to Christiana Stevenson, and their talented children, Eloise, Otto, and Oskar, who all reside outside of Boston. He is also survived by his sister, Sand Lowe, of Independence, Missouri.
For the teachers, friends, colleagues and others who helped, encouraged, and added to his life, Paul was extremely grateful.
