Augusta- Philip Morris Walker, 87, of Willow Street passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Maine General Hospital following an extended illness.
Philip was born on December 9, 1936, in New Hampshire, the son of the late Ralph C. and Mildred L. (Gordon) Walker. He attended local schools and graduated from high school. Following school he enlisted and served in the United States Army.
Philip was a man who embraced life with vigor and determination. His work ethic was unparalleled, his dedication unwavering. Philip's working career included long haul truck driver, working as a farm hand on a Montana Ranch, maintenance in Senior Housing, then spent the last 18 years of his working career as a warehouseman for the Pepsi-Cola Company retiring in 1999.There was a certain nobility in his routine, a testament to his firm belief that "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure" as rightly said by Colin Powell.
Philip resided in Augusta, Maine, where he was known for his captivating stories and his warm, welcoming demeanor. He was a man who could light up a room with his presence, his laughter was infectious and his kindness unforgettable. Philip's life was rich with experiences and relationships. .
Philip was predeceased by two sons, Kevin and Gary Walker. He is survived by his long time companion, Gloria Campbellton of Augusta; a daughter Debbie Walker and her husband Todd Morris, of British Columbia; a son Heath Walker and his companion Judy Walker of British Columbia; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
