It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard Eugene Hart on June 29, 2025. Born on June 25, 1943, in Bath, ME, Richard lived a life that was as vibrant and beautiful as the natural world he loved and worked to protect. In his 82 years, he touched countless lives, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and in the lands he tirelessly safeguarded.
Richard, a passionate and committed Federal Wildlife Agent, made a significant impact on the preservation of wildlife habitats throughout his lifetime. Retired in 2000, his diligent work with the US Government was not just a career, but a testament to his love for nature and wildlife. He had a unique ability to see the beauty in all living things and worked tirelessly to ensure they thrived. In the words of John Muir, "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." This quote encapsulates Richard's philosophy, as he dedicated his life to protecting the natural world and inspiring those around him to do the same.
Richard will forever be remembered by his devoted domestic partner, Gayle Warren, his loving children, Carrie Sanson and Aaron Hart, and by all who were fortunate to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Barbara Hart. Richard was not just a man but a beacon of light who taught us to appreciate the world around us. His life was a lesson in love, dedication, and the pursuit of passion.
We encourage you to leave your fond memories of Richard and upload photos to the memorial page. This will serve not only as a tribute to his life and legacy but also to keep his spirit alive in our hearts. Remember Richard as he was - full of life, love, and a deep respect for the world around him. Let his passion for nature continue to inspire us all.
