Richard Alan Moody, 57, died unexpectedly at his home on February 25th, 2025.
He was born in Augusta on June 3rd, 1968 son of Clyde and Marcia (Hinckley) Moody.
Richard loved disc golfing, spending time with his family, and rooting on his favorite driver
watching Nascar with his family. He was also great at working with his hands, anywhere
from fixing mechanical issues to framing up a house.
Richard attended Messalonskee High School and later on graduated with his GED from
Cony High School in 1992. He held many jobs including Blue Rock Industries, Test-tech
industries, but specialized and excelled at Carlton Woolenmill in Gardiner.
Richard had suffered from a brain injury for many years. That did not get in the way of his love for his son Matthew. He would call him daily.
He is survived by his son, Matthew Moody and wife Shyanne, and his grand-daughters
Bailey (13), Lilyanna (8), Journee (4), Bryleigh (3) of Chelsea; sisters Lorraine Skidgel and her husband Sheldon, Elaine Smith, Sharon Smith and her husband Brent, Sherry Libby and her husband Dwayne, Tammy Gagnon and her husband Jeffrey, Pam Libby Decker and her husband James, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his Mother Marcia whom he had a very close relationship with and Father Clyde Moody, and brothers Brian and Wayne Moody.
A special thank you to the caregivers at Fern Cottage Assisted Living Home for providing
him with quality care during his time there.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am at Reynolds Cementery, Reynolds Hill Road in
Sidney on May 17th, 2025. A celebration of life will immediately follow where all are
welcome at his niece Sabrina's home at 2351 W River Road in Sidney. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, ME.
