Russell S. Benning (Russell Scott Day), Age 51 of West Gardiner passed away on Tuesday, March 2nd at his home after battling long term complications from diabetes.
Russell was an outdoor loving kid and this continued throughout his life, enjoying scenic walks and drives. He loved wolves, black panthers and bald eagles. He also loved writing stories, poetry and supportive life experience articles with published work that he was rightfully proud of.
He was a kind hearted goof ball who always had time to give to anyone in need. He loved to make people smile and laugh with silly one-liners or general jokes and wise cracks. Even during his hardest times he would still flash you a smile or be concerned for others. Russell will always be remembered as a caring, loyal man who valued his family and friends and who had a distinctive giggle.
Russell leaves behind his parents, Jean L. Day in
Lewiston and David G. Day in Rumford, his older brother Randy Day in Lewiston and three younger sisters, Holly Day in England, UK, Wendi Day in Lewiston and Anna Duvefelt in Bangor. Russell also leaves behind his best friend Christina Turner in West Gardiner and his step daughter Ursula Burnham in West Gardiner.He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that were like family to him, notably his Aunt Carol who has been especially caring and supportive to Russell. He will be missed dearly.
