GARDINER - Scott W. Christie, 86, of Adams Street died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 22, 2021. He was born in Pittston on November 8,1934 to Murvil and Alyce (Morrill) Christie. He attended schools in Pittston and Gardiner. He married Lauraine Gurney and raised five children. Scott worked at several area businesses, including Lipman Poultry, Hallowell Shoe, Hazzard Shoe, Commonwealth Shoe and Bath Iron Works. He also worked as a carpenter for McKee Construction and C.B. Mattson. Scott enjoyed candlepin & 10 pin bowling, playing the ponies, golfing, and yard sales. He was an avid card player and played poker, Texas hold-em, scat, rummy, and cribbage several times a week. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family in Maine and Texas. Scott was predeceased by his parents, his sister Elizabeth (Betty) and brothers Everett, Alfred, Richard (Skip), Daniel, Murvil (Buster) and Ronald (Charlie). Surviving is his children Scott (Helen) of Humble, TX; Karen Garcia of Waterville; Lynne/Linda Acorn (Randall) of Waldoboro; Brian of Augusta; and Bette Becker (Bruce) of Liberty, TX; along with several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and “adopted” daughters. He is also survived by his brother John, his first wife Lauraine, and his sweetheart, life partner and “Hon,” Mary Luce. A graveside service will be planned for a later date.
