Obituary

1968 - 2022 AUGUSTA - Shellie Rae (Slocomb) Nichols passed away after a brave and courageous battle with cancer at her home surrounded by loved ones on May 17th, 2022. She was born in Augusta December 12th, 1968. After graduating from Cony High School in 1987 she attended Bentley University before earning her B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Augusta. Shellie was employed by York Hospital following a long-time career at Maine General. She was involved with Maine Harness Horsemen's Association (MHHA) her entire life. Survived by her beloved daughter Samantha and her husband Jesse Barton. Her grandchildren Reed, Charlotte, and William. They held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her parents David and Theresa (Nicknair) Slocomb. Her siblings Robin Slocomb, James his wife Heather Slocomb and their sons Logan and Sedric. As well as her companion Michael Wettstein. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Peter T. Georges and his team, along with her Hospice team. Shellie was an extraordinary woman who always had a smile. She enjoyed and found peace when walking the beaches and oceans. A celebration of life will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4-6 pm, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
