Limington- Steven Neil Colby. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, Steven Neil Colby of Limington, Maine. He passed away on October 28, 2024, in the company of his loving family.
Steve served two tours in Vietnam and after returning home, attended SMVTI earning a degree in automotive mechanics. After working as a mechanic for several years, he transitioned into carpentry, having learned much about the trade from his father.
He moved to California and worked for many years as a builder. Steve enjoyed Civil War history and horsemanship. He joined Civil War Reenactment groups while traveling the country reenacting various battles. Though he loved the groups and horses, he really enjoyed visiting with his family when they gathered for birthdays and holidays.
He was a great big brother using his strong values to look after his little brother and help him whenever he was needed.
He immensely enjoyed his two nieces and nephew, visiting with them and sending cards when he was away in California. Upon moving back to Maine, he built a house across from his brother in Union. He later moved to Limington where he lived for twenty years.
He had many close friends and family who are very sad at his passing and will miss him very much. He leaves behind his younger brother, Mark Colby, and wife Kathleen, nieces Mary Yokabaskas and her partner Sam Paiton, Debbie and Frank Panebianco, nephew Steve Colby, and their children and grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Steven's life will be held a Christ Church Episcopal, 2 Dresden Ave, Gardiner, ME at 10am on Friday, November 15, 2024. Burial will be in Old Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta, ME at 12pm. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home, 54 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, ME.
