Susan
Giandrea
Oct 1, 1946 — Sep 10, 2026
Gardiner
Gardiner-Susan A. Giandrea, 79, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2026.
Susan was born on October 1, 1946, in Gardiner to Dorothy Mae (Dill) and Erwin Howard Lambert and spent her childhood growing up in Randolph.
On September 24, 1976, Susan married her soulmate, the love of her life, Colin R. Giandrea, with whom she would have celebrated 50 golden years this year. She adored Colin and dedicated her life to him.
They could be found spending cherished time together going to Boothbay, community dances, and fun road trips to the casino. Sometimes these trips were just Susan and Colin, and other times it was really an adventure when her sister, Zerilla, and brother-in-law, William Staples, would join them. On quiet nights at home, you may have found Susan and Colin around the table, each playing a game of solitaire. On the not-so-quiet nights, Susan enjoyed going to the local Eagles Club to watch Colin sing karaoke.
Some of her other favorite moments were spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed days lying by the pool with a good book in hand.
As a housewife, she spent many years raising the couple's four children. As you would expect, these four children made sure Susan never had a dull moment—moments that she would continue to share for years to come. She took great pride in her family and loved becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. Most recently, she was able to meet and hold her great-granddaughter, Estella Rae, which she cherished so deeply.
Susan was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Erwin; her beloved sister, Zerilla Staples; and brother-in-law, William Staples.
Susan is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Colin Giandrea; son, Todd Giandrea (Melissa Weston); daughter, Zerilla (David) Grover; daughter, Tammy (Nelson) Plourde; and son, Tony Giandrea (Maureen McGraw). Adopted daughter Stephanie (Travis) Towle.
Grandchildren include Courtney (Sam) Pierce, Kyle Tibbetts, Alisha Giandrea, Anna (Zach) Diamond, and Christopher Bilodeau. Great-grandchildren Estella Rae and Ellie Mae Marie.
We would like to extend our thanks and grateful hearts to Susan's care team. A special thank you to Austin Trudell-Lewis for loving her and caring for her in her final weeks with us; Nurse Aimee D.P. with Pine Tree Home Health for her care and support; and the Andwell Hospice Team, including Alysia A. and Nurse Samantha, for devoting their time, knowledge, and strength.
Thank you to Susan's entire care team, who allowed Susan to peacefully pass at home with her husband by her side, as they had hoped and prayed for.
At this time, there will be no services. We ask that, in lieu of flowers, you make a charitable donation in Susan's name to Andwell Hospice. Donations may be sent to: Andwell Health Partners, ATTN: Development Office, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240
