Obituary

West Gardiner- Susanne M. LaRue, 69, of High Street passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at her home surrounded by family, following a brief illness. Susanne was born in Augusta, Maine on March 7, 1955, the daughter of the late Harold S. and Theresa A. (Valliere) Davis. She graduated from Hall-Dale High School in the class of 1974. Susanne worked as housekeeper supervisor for the State of Maine for over 30 years. She oversaw many buildings in the capitol including the Blaine House, the State Capitol Building, and several State Office Buildings. Over those years she met many coworkers and dear friends that she would talk about often, and everywhere she went she would bump into someone she knew from "The State." In her spare time, Susanne loved spending time outdoors at her home working in her flower and vegetable gardens, spending time with family and spending time with her friends at the American Legion Post #4 where she served as Chaplin and part of the Woman's Auxiliary. Earlier in life she was an avid hunter and loved spending time with her husband at their camp in North New Portland. . Susanne was predeceased by her life partner,, Kendall Cromwell. She is survived by two daughters, Cecilia Jane Christie and her husband James of Augusta, Angie L. Tarbox of Winthrop; two brothers, Bob J. Davis of GA, and Mark W. Davis and his wife Rosanne of Sidney; three sisters, Linda Ann Devers and her husband Fred of Waldoboro, Kathy J. Campbellton and her husband Frank of Augusta and Jeannette A. Stackpole and her husband Ken of FL; four grandchildren, Emily M. Howe of Winthrop, Thaddeus N. Tarbox of WA, Teddy Christie of Augusta and Liliana Christie of Augusta; several nieces and nephews. At the families request services will be private. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, ME.
