Obituary

1956 - 2021 AUGUSTA - Thomas F. Grant, Jr., 64, of Augusta, Maine, died Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at his home surround by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Gardiner, Maine on October 24, 1956, the son of Thomas Frank, Sr. and Lois (Quimby)Grant. Tom attended Gardiner Area High School and began his lifelong career as a skilled craftsman. He worked on many historic buildings such as McAllister Real Estate in Hallowell and the Train Station in Gardiner. His work was featured in Colonial Homes and Downeast Magazines. Later in his career he traveled around the U.S. and the tropics while working for Hollywood Woodwork. Tom was passionate about his family- especially his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. He was easy going and had the biggest heart. He loved to tell stories, listen to some knee tapping blues music and enjoyed the biggest campfire at the family camp in Lee. He looked forward to the annual get togethers where he could catch up with his family. Tom was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed taking rides in his '93 Mustang. He loved spending time in the garage telling stories and working on the car. Tom's wife Donna captured his heart over 40 years ago and was the love of his life. After raising their boys they forged new adventures together traveling to southern states and Caribbean islands during Toms career. He was predeceased by his mother Lois Grant and father Thomas Grant Sr. Tom is survived by his wife Donna (Harris) Grant, of Augusta; two sons, Nathan Grant and wife Alyssa of Litchfield, Nicholas Grant of Augusta, granddaughter Mackenzie and grandsons Xavier and Colton, brothers Richard, Mike, Timmy, Jeff, Scott, and Jimmy. A graveside service will be held this Summer, at the Litchfield Plains Cemetery in Litchfield, follow by a Celebration of Life. Additional details, date, and time will be announced. Arrangements are entrusted thru Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
