Obituary

West Gardiner-It is with a heavy heart we share with all of you the passing of our sweet Husband/Father, Vincent (Vinny) J. Firlotte, on May 28, 2022 at the Maine Veteran's Home, Augusta Maine. Although somewhat expected, we were never ready. (He was a resident of West Gardiner since 1957.) He was born on January 19, 1928 in Gardiner, Maine to Alfred and Violet Firlotte. He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years Margaret (Peggy) Firlotte; daughter Linda (Gordon) Ramsay (husband John), two sons Michael Firlotte and Christopher Firlotte (wife Kristie). Dad leaves the joys in life, his grandchildren Michael Gordon, Michaela Firlotte and Evan Firlotte, JoAnn Mason, Nikolas Grover, John Ramsay, Simon Ramsay, Tim Ramsay and Sarah Ramsay; great grandchildren Leon Gordon and Noelle Gordon. He is also survived by three siblings Margaret Pratt, Sheila Lemar (husband Norman) and John Gary Firlotte (wife Marilyn). Dad also is survived by many cousins in Jacquet River, Canada and many nieces and nephews throughout the US. He served in the Army Air Force (1946) and was honorably discharged. He happily lived his life by being a heavy equipment operator and then a professional truck driver. He had many "stories" to share about both occupations! He served as a Volunteer for the West Gardiner Fire Department, was a lifetime member of the Gardiner Sportsman's Club, and he used to plow the roads in West Gardiner. Special thanks to the Campbell Kids (family) and all the wonderful neighbors for all their love and attention given to our family over the years and to the dedicated and loving staff at Maine Veteran's Home (Kaila, Twyla, Ellen, Travis, Sam and so many more). Dad will miss working in his garden, tending those tomatoes and mowing his impeccable lawn! We will miss him laughing at jokes/pranks and watching him light up when his grandchildren/great grandchildren would come around. There will be no funeral service. If you would like to, please donate to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, www.staplesfuneralhome.com
